5 out of 5 stars Best Firewall Book Ever   December 10, 2009

I've read many books on firewalls and overall technical guides ,and I think this book is one of the absolute best.

Even if you're a novice at Cisco Command Line and Firewalls, you can take this book, and if you follow instructions, you will become an ACE at ASA!

Incredibly put. Very few technical books are written so effectively for any levels of knowledge, from novice to expert.

5 out of 5 stars It's the ASA Bible   January 27, 2010

Basically this book is the Bible on the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA). It starts it's 27 chapters (In the beginning, so to speak) with a basic description of the various models of the ASA. From there it goes on to cover the hardware/software of the appliance. It presumes no fore knowledge of the command line interface, but it does presume you are not a complete beginner. For instance he uses jargon like "IPv6" and presumes that you know what this means. As such, I consider this to be an intermediate level book. It's aimed at the professional market, not the typical user of a $50 home network device.

If it's your job to setup and then maintain a secure network using the ASA, here's an excellent place to start. The writing style is good, the information is complete, and it covers the subject well.
